I'm sure Ken would like to see all of us show up. (ALL?)

Uh, well, all with a couple of notable exceptions, make that un-notable exceptions. :D
(monikers omitted to protect the guilty)

But seriously, that's been one of the cool things at the rally, meeting each other and putting personalities to the names. I think the person I regret not meeting the most was Lonnie Walker, who was on his way when his many miled GS took a dump, ignition wise. It was the first October rally, and we carved a pumpkin into a reasonable facsimile of his actual visage (or so we surmised since none of us had actually met him yet or seen his picture).

Unfortunately Pumpkin Lonnie met an untimely end when a goat I had at the time bumped him off a table as I was cleaning up after the rally.

(Randy, still got that pic?)

Since I am now more or less a citizen of the great Okie state, I am looking forward to joining in the festivities.

Ken, any chance Joan might return some day? Wife and I always enjoyed her company.

Yes, Ron, there is a chance, but unfortunately it won't be this upcoming rally. Joan has bought a sailboat, joined a sailboating club, and has been named social director for the club. (No surprise there!) Plus she also races her sailboat on a regular basis.

We've talked about her coming to the rally, and she wants to, but the demands on her time are high. So, unless things change, and they aren't likely to for this rally, we'll have to do without her one more time.

Incidentally, Joan's Blueberry is down right now waiting for some newly painted RS bodywork to be installed. Joan is extremely fond of RS bikes, having ridden my '82 RS from Boise to Big Cedar in two days, and she's excited about the prospect of riding her own bright shiny R65RS.

There will be some mods that have to be done, of course for the conversion, and I'll be helping with some of that process.

Ken,

I have a (truly) unique and somewhat rare piece that Joan might want a chance to grab, if she wants to keep her original speedo & tach. I have no use for it, just my OCD kicked in when I saw it available.

It is #12 in this diagram: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=31&fg=10

Of course, a hacksaw will provide the same effect.

If Joan's in to sailing, I wouldn't be suprised to see her sail around to the gulf and up the river to Okla. That girl doesn't half-ass anything she does. IMO

Rob, I've sent Joan an email about your offer.

I'm so glad to hear that Steve.

After labor day I plan to start some chatter about the rally and see if we might be able to excite some more folks to come join us.
