Thanks for the sage and common sense advice. Probably close to what I already really thought. Looks like a full set of Spiegler and a full set of BMW lines are actually pretty close in price.

I would go with Earl's instead of Spiegler. Better quality accoring to Ted Porter.

I don't know what Ted Porter's beef is with Spiegler
but I have had nothing but good experiences with their products and service.

I don't know if it's a beef per se, but he does cite Earl's over Spiegler. Maybe he gets a better markup?

Earl's in the UK see to come with stainless bangos as standard.
