San Jose fork brace: what the heck do I have?

I picked up this San Jose fork brace in a used BMW parts lot on Ebay. It doesn't fit my /6 forks, so what do I have? Did San Jose BMW make fork braces for other bikes?

There is a difference in the ATE braked fork braces and the Brembo ones...... You need to get the right one for your bike .DAMHIK..

Flatracer in England list four different types, so you have 3 chances in 4of having the wrong one.

I have a Flatracer, and the short guard, on my well worn G/S and they look good, fit perfectly and have taken the visible slop out of the forks.

I only see two versions (different than mine) listed on Flatracer. I don't think it's the post 1980 version either, the side plates are narrower. Does anyone know if SJ made them for brands other than BMW? I already knew it doesn't fit.

I have several old SJ catalogs. The one from '83 states: "Please specify year and model." The one from '93 lists three different models as follows:

CC Twin Fork Braces
/6 model #31425-000-003
R90s to '80 #31425-000-004
'81-'84 Twins #31425-000-005

I might have earlier literature lying around, so I'll check and see if it sheds more light than this.

A brace sold for $69.95 back in '93. I seem to recall new ones a couple of years ago listed for $250.00.

Dug out more literature, circa 1976-80, and remembered that my father's R75/6 had a SJ brace--it was two hoops independent of each other. In other words, there is no flat sheet of bar stock connecting them like the one in your photo. I have the SJ instructions still, and it shows the same thing: two hoops, one taller and one shorter. It also notes: "Slash Six style require two holes drilled in fender."
