More interesting to me would be to know how BMW arrived at 38.6mm?
Well, it's a nominal 1-1/2"
38.6mm = 1.519682" About a 1/2mm over 1/2". 38mm is more like a "nominal" 1/2". Just to be nit picking. :P

Well, if we're going to pick nits, a "nominal" 2x4 is approximately 1.5" x 3.5", so if 2" gets granted 1/2" of latitude, I think I should be granted a 1/2 a millimeter on 1-1/2". :mrgreen:
