I believe the weird item is a snake oil gas-consumption/performance product.

Wow, I just went to the website. Look at all that gadget does:
The Fitch Fuel Catalyst Advantage

Increases Miles Per Gallon
Increases Horsepower & Torque
Quicker Throttle Response
Smoother Running Engine
Permanent Stabilizer for Off-Season Storage
Reduces or Eliminates Ping and Knock
Allows for a Lower Octane Fuel
One Time Application for the Life of the Engine
Good for 2 & 4 Stroke Engines
That's about all a guy (or gal) could want for their beloved beemer!

Hmm, thinking about it, I wonder if they market a similar product for humans???

Ken, needing a tune up in Oklahoma

HA HA! I pulled something similar out of the tank of my Westy. Mine had probably been sold as "platinum catalyzer pills in stainless steel mesh." Glad to see that not just VW hippies fell for that one.
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world.

It might be that I took the "gizmo" out of the tank or might be that new throttle cables and cleaning out the tank filters but SOFIE is running so much better and quieter. Have yet to take her up to highway speeds and see what that is like.

I am so pleased with her that I gave her a bath. First one in a year. Her chrome Staintune mufflers are gleaming.

Glad to hear it.

It definitely wasn't the gizmo. It didn''t do anything, positive or negative, other than the miniscule reduction in tank capacity that it caused.

The "gizmo" drove me mad trying to get it out. Took me awhile to see that I could use wire and catch it that way.

I am still amazed at the crap that people will buy........ or believe. I knew better when I was a child. Humans are funny.
Ask the Indians what happens when you don't control immigration.
