In teaching carb balancing by ear, I will certainly admit that many riders have no ear. They can't hear the gross changes, much less the subtle ones that one must know.

Once had a customer that complained that his bike would lose power. He said, "It is as if the hand of God is holding me back." Turned out that it was running on one cylinder, not two. I wanted to rescind his ownership and give him a red and white cane.

I am sure that many can't ever learn to hear the bike run in all of its detail. Get them a toy to help out.
