Thanks for all the input, very informative.
Current plan is to watch and wait. I think $4200 is way too much.
R65LS ergonomics...
Re: R65LS ergonomics...
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Re: R65LS ergonomics...
Other than the black colour, are R65 and R65LS mufflers the same???

The ass end of them is different.dougie wrote:Other than the black colour, are R65 and R65LS mufflers the same???
The LS mufflers are concave while the Std. R65 has the same shape used on Type 247's of the same period.
Here was a nice set of LS mufflers that just went for cheap on eBay:

Here is a picture of my bike's OEM mufflers:

Do you know if the R65 ones fit on the LS?justoneoftheguys wrote:The ass end of them is different.dougie wrote:Other than the black colour, are R65 and R65LS mufflers the same???

That LS I was considering looks to have non-stock (rounded) perhaps painted.

Yes, they fit (obviously). I hadn't noticed that when I looked at the pictures the first time.dougie wrote:Do you know if the R65 ones fit on the LS?

It is common to paint the standard mufflers (or aftermarket) with high-temp black paint.
That bike is looking less desirable for the money they are asking all the time.
Re: R65LS ergonomics...
I know - I wonder if the complete paint job is covering something.
Maybe a clean R65 would be better, then you make it into whatever you want.

Thus to get the look of the original, without the poor life expectancy.justoneoftheguys wrote:

MS - out
Re: R65LS ergonomics...
The white wheels also look to have been painted. The wheels on mine had cracking in the paint where the "spokes" were welded to the hub...it was new tech then...but that was repaired under warranty.
I wouldn't discount this bike too quickly, but I would want to see some evidence of work to validate mileage.

Re: R65LS ergonomics...
My bike I enjoyed as a LWB had a low bar but wider than the bar fitted to BMW I used the stock foot position then the pax position with a more or less stock seat 4 to 5 hours the the Corbin seat put me to 6 and 8 easly
the R65 is more or less SWB but a little stronger frame
I think a Short stroke motor can be interesting but I think a 1000cc in a R65 Suit really interesting
I'm in the middle of a Cafe in SWB for my only BMW

The beautiful stock black exhaust is the hardest part to replace.
And not to start a tube vs. tubeless argument, but the LS wheels have the safety lip that snowflakes lack.
And the rear brake drum is a different diameter than the 'flakes. Some PO's have been known to accidentally install the wrong ones, resulting in poor(er) performance.
And it's crying out for some fork boots!
