Village Idiot, Further R75/6 question
I have benefited from responses thus far. In my completely clueless endeavor to move from changing the oil in my truck to maintaining my R75/6, I find how to projects, but not what and when. Prior to problems, what needs adjustment when? I can check for loose bolts, know when the tires are worn, but what should I look at at what interval? I'm just too new to this sort of bike to have a short list of adjustments to google. Thanks.

This list will get you started: http://www.ascycles.com/pdf/ServiceSche ... 00GSPD.pdf
If you don't have a owners manual, you should seriously consider getting one. There is a TON of information in them. Everything short of the care & feeding of the gearbox input and final drive output splines, it seems.
If you have never removed your gearbox, this is probably a good time to get prepared. It is the best way to clean and lube the gearbox input splines, and THE ONLY way to inspect and lightly lube the throw-out rod where it contact the clutch plate.
Here is a nice article on gearbox removal:

I considered using "village idiot" as my handle here, before choosing "Native". So, please, have some respect...

Good tips. Printed the list and am ordering a manual. Thanks.
Re: Village Idiot, Further R75/6 question
I like the Clymer book. As a matter of fact, I was looking at the wiring diagram in mine about three minutes ago. I still am going to ask a question. I'd like a little further understanding.
It seems that saying you're the idiot on this board means being your own worst critic. Me, I'm not following that trend. I'm a genius.

Re: Village Idiot, title already taken
Bill, Native /5 AND Justoneofthe guys now have confessed to operating a tranny without the slippery stuff.
Do not do this.
I only mention this because we make comments every so often about "Don't forget the OIL!!", so now you know why it's funny.
If you can find a gas station that sells REAL gasoline w/o ethanol, trade with them.
