Before tearing the carb apart to more inconclusive analysis....you can actually switch carbs side to side, with a little tinkering, to see if the problem follows. BTDTRohls wrote:Would I be right in tearing the left carb apart and seeing if something is crappy there? I have gone through it before. Is this vacuum problem? What about that rubber boot connecting the carb to cylinder? It doesn't seem cracked....

Re: r75/7 Dyna III question
Thanks, I'll switch out the left carb with the left one from my r90/6 and give that a whirl. Or spray some carb cleaner in the cylinder whilst running on the left and see if that catches....might tell me the left cylinder is good on compression/suction and spark...Native /5 wrote:Before tearing the carb apart to more inconclusive analysis....you can actually switch carbs side to side, with a little tinkering, to see if the problem follows. Re: r75/7 Dyna III question
I hope you recover soon. Take care of yourself and don't fool around if you have any symptoms of another. A good biking buddy of mine from my local club, only 53 I believe, just had a major one. He can't even speak let alone ride now. He was in good health too...just all of a sudden about 4 month ago.....bam. He had a little one, went to the hospital and had the big one the same day in his hospital bed!Motorhead wrote:I need to sell my Cafe BMW for health reasons

He's got a collection of at least 8 great bikes. R69, R100CS, K1100, a beautiful vintage Duc, vintage Harley, a sweet 30's Indian, and a couple of others.
He spoke several languages, played the blues and jazz guitar, was an avid chess player and an accomplished motorcycle racer. We all miss him.

Re: r75/7 Dyna III question
Hi again,
So it turns out it must have been a combination of bad spark plug wire (replaced) and left carb (idle jet wasn't the cleanest). I cleaned the idle jet out and now it kinds runs. I'll explain.
starts pretty well, however hesitates greatly when I twist the throttle....bogs down....(!)
My next item to check is the dynamic timing. I'm worried this is off because in the DYNA III instructions it tells you to 'bend the advance unit tabs so that they inhibit the cams/weights from spreading out at increased RPMs...' or something to that effect... Any thoughts?
Thanx

Re: r75/7 Dyna III question
I really question the bending of the tabs...it shouldn't be required...I didn't need to anything of the sort on my /7. Installed it, tweaked the individual pickup coils, checking timing, runs great. If the bike bogs on twisting the throttle, isn't that carb? I'd certainly confirm carb synch before I began to throw stones at the Dyna.
