Sargent /5 seat restoration

Post by Unclviny »

I really LIKE the way my /5 seat looks but I really DON'T like the way it feels. Sargent offers resto/rebuild services with installation of that "super-duper" foam they sell ($240.00 + shipping to them), has anybody had this done?

I've sat on seats that had received that service, but never owned one or rode any distance on one. It looked and felt great.

Thanks MS, if it does not look right it won't matter how it feels! You made me feel better about "the deal".

You should be happy then. I find Sargent seats to be the most attractive of all the common aftermarket seats.

Sargent rebuilt my '74 R90S seat with their super duper foam. On a long ride before the seat felt like sitting on the edges of two pieces of 1/4" plywood. After it is an all day firm seat. I'm in the Atlanta, GA area if you want to come by and sit on it.

I have used Sargent for covers and parts; they are very good. Their reputation is very good also. As to different foams in rebuilds, I had Bill Mayer rebuild and recover my /6 seat. With the new foam insert, slightly shaped seat, and leather covering I can go 800-900 miles per day without any probems in the butt area; that's not to say my neck doesn't cramp and my shoulders get tired.
