New needles and needle jets (268)
New NGK leads.
New WR5DC plugs.

New lease on life.......... 8000 plus rpm again.

What fix fixed it?
Dunno, dun matter.

Good work Jeff! Your prob sounded suspiciously like worn needle jets to me.....easy to confuse with an electrical gremlin and often overlooked. Replacement plugs and leads won't hurt either!!! ;) Cheers, hools.

Good result Jeff. Now you can go faster, longer! Do you know your usual tank range? It'll improve quite a bit with the new needles/jets.

Ya mean no more blue pills??!! YAY!

My only real measure of fuel efficiency (or lack thereof) was always being 2 litres per tank more thirsty than Ken's RS when doing our outback trips.

There was a time however on an outback trip when our fuel consumption levelled.
That was the time when some of my valves were.........well, u know...trading places. Go figure.

Does the write up of "The Peening Files" exist, or did it go north with the loss of the old site?
