Our Duane

Post by Major Softie »

Since not everyone visits the Speakeasy, I figured I'd better post this over here too.

I saw Duane yesterday afternoon. I was passing through Sacramento on my way back from the Bay area, and I stopped in to visit. He looks GREAT (from the neck up). Good color (course, he's naturally pretty pasty), and a just somewhat calmer version of his same old self. He definitely was a bit more aware of his own mortality, but that sort of thing can do that to you.

He showed me lots of scars. When they went into his legs for vein material to transplant in to do the (quintuple) bypasses, they discovered he has a vein condition that made a lot of his veins no good for the bypass. They made 13 incisions, each about 2" long, before they found pieces for the 5 bypasses. That is part of what kept him on the table for so long (8-1/2 hours). He had a line of incisions all the way down his leg. Showed me the big one on his chest too.

Considering what he's been through, I figured he'd tire pretty quickly, but we talked for over 1/2 an hour, with him doing most of the talking, and he seemed a tad disappointed when I had to leave. So, he's definitely feeling better than I expected him to before I saw him. He said that he's doing well enough that he may be released a day earlier than originally planned.

I told him I'd report in to you guys, so here you go.

I didn't see Diane, so I can't swear she made it through the procedure. I guess we can only hope . . .

I miss a few hours here and I am left out in the "dark".
Duane,
Heal up quickly, old man...
We NEED your insight and sense of humor, now more than ever.
Diane, maybe not so much...............she is one ugly beotch........I guess someone must think that she is HOT!
Gotta go.
I will even say a prayer to the Airhead g-ds for your full and speedy recovery.
Best wishes always,
spo

Wow!

I didn't even know that Duane was having work done but I sure hope he gets well soon!

It's only oil pump maintenance. It's not like they're rebuilding his big end.
