1982 R65 Rear Brake Shoes

Post by EMH »

Did the '79-84 R65 have the same rear brake shoes as the R65LS? Part numbers are different. I'm trying to figure out if NOS aftermarket shoes (Ferodo FDB804) will work on my stock 1982 R65. Seller seems to think so, my research suggests different.

LS brake shoes are unique fitment for LS wheel only.

And, how old is the NOS? They could be 30 years old, in which case I'd look for something fresher. Brake pads and shoes do get harder with age.

The R65LS rear brake drum on the cast wheel is wider in diameter than the R75/80/90/100 rear drum. Comparing shoes, you will notice that the arm extending from the shoe portion to the cam is longer than the "big" bikes.
