Using LED as indicator warning light.

Post by chasbmw »

I would like to mount a small LED in the edge of my /S screen as an indicator warning light.

Does anyone done this before? I seem to remember something about LEDs requiring a resistor in the circuit..........

All advice at a level suitable for some one illiterate in the ways of electricity welcomed.

I think a repeater running in parallel there while retaining the original wiring scheme would work. But I was wrong once before.

the LED from Pep Boys come ready to mount and wire in

I picked my colors and wired them in Triumph style, after my Texas trip I installed a black cover that solved my view in daylight use

Disclaimer -
I am "someone illiterate in the ways of electricity" as well, so this is just my "what I would try". Sometimes I get lucky.

If you are running stock turn signals and bulbs, and you add a small LED in parallel, then your bike's system will do "same as it ever was" for the turn signal and also supply the additional, miniscule amount of juice to the LED.

You've got me thinking Charles.
Hmmmmm, in the corner of the S fairing you say? Could be nice.

The rest of it I just wasted.

Progress being made, found sources of green LEDs complete with suitable resistor for 12v use.

Whilst I'm at it. I might as well relocate the fuses to outside the headlamp shell, as they are a PIA to change with the S fairing.

You may want to install a variable resister so you can turn the brightness up in daytime and down at night. I remember someone posting a picture of indicator lights on the fairing edge. May not have been led or S faring. I think it was an RS fairing. I'll look for it.

Tim,

Any chance of simplified wiring diagram, series V parallel?
