Just came from the autoparts store, picked up a new battery.
Inquired casually about plugs. While there were no NGKs in stock, there was cross reference for both Champion & Autolite as well as Bosch Super. Almost all had an iridium option.
So, what are y'all running w/ good success?
Points & electronic?
Spark Plugs
Re: Spark Plugs
NGK, iridium, and points on an R90/6 and runs great.

Re: Spark Plugs
My sense is to use NGK, I was unaware Champion even made a suitable plug!
Re: Spark Plugs
More information on this would be great as there are no NGK plugs available locally for me either.
Cheers,
C.

Re: Spark Plugs
I was well aware that back in the days of the /2, Champion made plugs that were shown in the substitution book. They not only didn't work, but were the wrong heat range and were a factor in seizures.lrz wrote:My sense is to use NGK, I was unaware Champion even made a suitable plug!
It could all be different today, but I will never get over the many top ends that we had to bore due to Champion.
Ask the Indians what happens when you don't control immigration.
Re: Spark Plugs
You can order them through the mail from suppliers like Bike Bandit.c7train wrote:More information on this would be great as there are no NGK plugs available locally for me either.

Re: Spark Plugs
My original BMW riders handbook from 1979 lists champion plugs along side the Bosch. The equivalent to a Bosh W5D being given as a Champion N6Y. Still don't think of them as quality plugs though. NGK for me.

Champion
I use one in my cheap lawnmower 'cause I don't care.

I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Re: Spark Plugs
Well, one reason I ask is that AFAIK airheads, points or electronic, should not use resistor plugs at all. Correct?
Current Bosch seemed to be all (r)esistor type while NGK had both,e.g; bp6es or bpr6es which seemed to span the former Bosch w6dc-w7dc.
I'd forgotten but my rs has the plugs from the PO-autolites!
Motu-those are Bosch of some sort?
