wheel spacers
wheel spacers
1985 R80. How do I remove the spacers that fit behind the wheel lug bolts on the rear wheel?
Re: wheel spacers
'85 is a Monolever correct?
Spacers?
Do you mean the cones that are on the wheel bolts?
If so, they should come out with, and slide off the bolts.
They are separate parts and should not be stuck in the wheel or on the bolts.

I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

Re: wheel spacers
Dougie, those are the ones and they are stuck in the wheel. I may try heat. Thanks for the help.
Re: wheel spacers
A soak in penetrating oil might help. The an appropriate sized wood or aluminium dowel - insert and wiggle.michael wrote:Dougie, those are the ones and they are stuck in the wheel. I may try heat. Thanks for the help.
Some heat is always good and, if possible, tap, tap, tap, again with something not too hard.

Re: wheel spacers
The cones in each lug that serve to distribute load forces into the cast wheel will be one thing ...
IF there is a "spacer" to contend with
it will be a sheet steel ring with holes drilled into it and spaced for the lug screws.
These will be more difficult to keep in place while installing a wheel
and will simply fall onto the ground when removing one.
A good soaking with any good penetrating oil (as Kroil)
will have those cones falling out with the tap of a mallet.

Re: wheel spacers
Got the cone spacers out last night after soaking with liquid wrench overnight and then lightly tapping with a hammer and cold chisel. Thanks for all the advice.
