OK, just got back from the harbor. The deed is done, a dockworker helped me hold the bike down whilst I the anchored both ends and did the tie straps across both ends too. I have to admit, this time I overcompensated a bit. Without the center stand , the bike sat low enough that the extra length of the engine mounting studs and center stand tang fit perfectly in the holes in the sides of the milk crates. So, I nestled them around it and tied the whole shebang together. It now has a much larger footprint and should be fine, unless they drop the container on it's side.... They wouldn't do that, would they ?! Regarding the "net like" former arrangement, no drugs were involved. I am a minimalist at heart, and I may have been in a bit of a hurry because I was doing a slow roast in that container. It was a high humidity, no wind kind of day... I wanted to get out of there. Despite it's obvious flaws, I think it would have kept the bike from completely falling over, but was more likely to do so in the first place. Thanks for all the suggestions!

Oh but I do give a fuck, Jeff. I stopped the rust on this long neglected machine, kept it in dry storage all these many long years and surrounded it with the parts that would eventually make it whole again. I have been more of a caretaker than an owner. Now I've found a buyer who wants to "do it up right" and will eventually take it back to Germany. How cool is that!? BTW, I know you were kidding... you were kidding, weren't you? 8-)

Someone must not have been paying attention last night.

You had it in "dry storage?" In Hawaii????

Is that supposed to be ironic? :D

Nope, the Big Island is so huge it's creates its own weather: the "wet side" is windward, that's where all the jungles and old growth forests are. I live on the "dry side" or leeward of the trade winds. Dusty, dry grasslands all around me. Check it out, I live just about smack dab in the center of this view. I know you're very caring Tim. I meant that you didn't give one about what we all thought of your knots. :ugeek:
