I did some engine work to my 1975 R90s when I put the engine and transmission back in the frame I have a funny clicking from what I think is the driveshaft. To be sure I verified the spacing of the swingarm in the frame and removed the back wheel to make sure all of the gears were nicely aligned. I am at a loss. I do suspect it might be one of those "how could I have missed that" kind of things but I need some help.

Clicking sound in the driveshaft area
Re: Clicking sound in the driveshaft area
When do you hear it? Are you rolling down a hill in neutral for instance or is it on the stand and you're spinning the wheel?
And, welcome aboard.

Thanks for the welcome!!
It clicks on the stand when spinning the wheel and i took it up the alley behind my garage and you can hear it very clearly. I would rather not break something...

Re: Clicking sound in the driveshaft area
Have you got a stethoscope to place over the various spots along the rear end to localise the noise? A long screwdriver held to your ear might work?
Could it be the drum brake?

Re: Clicking sound in the driveshaft area
I do not have a stethoscope but I do have a long screwdriver. I will give that a try to see if I can isolate the source. I have had the rear wheel off and if fit back on very well no struggling at all.

Re: Clicking sound in the driveshaft area
Welcome to the forum, Ken.
I thought the rear end or driveshaft was going out on my RS last month when I slowed down for a turn. There was a unsettling clicking sound defiantly related to the rotational speed of the rear wheel. I rode the bike very slow the last mile to work. Lucky me...it ended up being that a long nail pierce the sidewall and was scraping along the swingarm every time the wheel turned. Pulled the nail out with no damage to the tube. Hope your troubles are that easily fixed.

Incorrectly inserted rear axle.
Ask the Indians what happens when you don't control immigration.
Re: Clicking sound in the driveshaft area
Duane! I'm surprised at you (and others).
Ken, as Duane has told us many times, having the swing-arm centered in the frame is a good thing, but what trumps it is having the drive shaft centered in the swing-arm tunnel. Something could be hitting there.
