Great pictorial too! Where did you camp? When I used to get up there on the bike, I camped at a spot called Jimmy's Creek, just off the main road to Dunkeld. Did you get over to Zumstein's? The last time I rode thru there, I thought I had double vision 'cause there were so many 'roos bouncing about.

G'day Steve. I think it was the Red Rock campground we stayed at. Zumsteins was closed, as were many of the roads, following a bad storm there in 2011. Great place.

re shocks - mine had obviously been assembled by a gorilla. The holes for the pin spanner were actually elongated in the tightening direction. We resorted to using Stilsons to get the gland nuts out, which left nasty teeth marks. I took the opportunity to cut those bits off, creating rebates to suit a shifting spanner for the future.

Ikon in Albury quoted me $100 to $120 EACH to replace the seals, provided nothing else was amiss. Seal kit was $44 for the pair. If you have lost yours, gimme a yell and I'll grab some and post to you. I lost my first set (or rather, they are in a very safe place) and had to buy more.

The other matter is squeezing the spring to get them apart. Pete has a home-grown jig that does the job. And I recall Chuey describing his method, involving a vise, loops of webbing and a plank of wood that he sat on to compress the spring. It sounded quite elegant, as one would expect from Chuey.

Thanks Charlie. How much fluid did you use and what w was it?
I fear my seals are also in a very safe place, but I'll have a crack at finding them before I order any more.

Huh?
I would think it the other way round.
I would think that one would have to have been an excellent human being, to be rewarded by being bought back as an innocent animal.

Lousy humans would come back as shit eating flies I think.

Pete did a bit of googling and found some different recipes. We put in 80ml of 5W fork oil and it seems to work just fine.

That 'roo has the best of lives. He has all the grass he can eat and many wives. He has fathered many joeys and one day he will probably die in combat with a young challenger - that's what happens to alpha males in the real world.

He doesn't have an iphone or a credit card and couldn't give a rat's arse about politics or religion or the money market. His aggressive stance was to warn us to stay away from his wives. It is pretty important to avoid getting between a big one like that and any of his wives. A 'roo of that size can easily disembowel a human but it happens only rarely and deservingly, such as when a young drunken male human decides to fight one out of bravado.

Got the seals, orings, bumpstops and new mounting bushes
for $110 from Ikon. Post in Advrider says 85ml of 5 oil.
Used 60% 10 and 40% 5 oil as suggested by SteveD for front forks.
5 was suggested as being a bit light for a fully loaded BM.
Both untried at this stage as still under reconstruction.
