R65 ignition switch

I would think a company in the UK would provide the appropriate switch to a UK customer by default (you are in England, right?).

The issue may be something to do with the wiring? Your R65 might be wired for the US, or it could be that a previous owner has been creative in wiring around a faulty ignition switch?

Moreover, the ignition switch is by default an "electrical" item. I wouldn't doubt that Motoworks has a "No Returns on Electrical Parts" policy. Unless you know the "counter man".

Never mind that an ignition switch is a mechanical device which places certain bits of metal in contact, allowing electrons to flow from one bit to the other. There are literally electrons running around on everything on a BMW. It's just that on most non-electrical items the electrons don't do as much traveling.

'phoned the guy at MOTORWORKS,no problem with returning the item.

He said something several days ago that made me google, and it came up with "some sort of Scottish phrase".

As a matter of interest...

Although McCabe (MacCabe and other spellings) originated in the Western Isles of Scotland it seems to be mainly Irish latterly as the family were Gallowglasses for some Irish families in the 13th century.
