I could see Rob's drill bit breaking before it became a problem.Jean wrote:Hey Rob!!
Be careful which direction you "Drill the Plug".
With your luck, it's be 90-deg to the direction you want.
the oil will get out.

I have drilled it for screws, I have pried the shit out of it, and I have applied heat to the boss - now what?
Maybe I'll sell it all & buy a Ninja 250R.

Re: Rob Needs a New Transmission
Soak it overnight with PB Blaster penetrating oil. Are you using a slide hammer with a coarse sheet metal screw?

Re: Rob Needs a New Transmission
penetrating oil in my input bearing???
I'll try the slide hammer, if I can find a bigger screw.
I am NOT putting any more money into this pit from hell. That includes a trip to the store for larger screws.
Look for me on eBay!

For the input shaft seal (with the shaft in place) I use a long sharpened thin flat blade screwdriver, with a piece of clear windshield washer tubing covering all but the tip.(you could use a piece of gas hose, etc.justoneoftheguys wrote:I have drilled it for screws, I have pried the shit out of it, and I have applied heat to the boss - now what?
Jam it in the old seal and pry it out.

As long as the old seal comes out without wrecking anything and the new seal goes in square and to the correct depth, all is good.
