How to cut the snap ring groove in the tranny ouput shaft?
Re: How to cut the snap ring groove in the tranny ouput shaf
Update- Interesting- independently, we figured out that the Dremel cut-off wheels are exactly the right width (.040"), and I have 20+ of them. The problem was- we couldn't get the dremel tool into position on the lathe because of the stabilizing chuck at the end. So, pulled the rest of the bearing and gears off, and now will be able to get that into position. Hopefully this will work...

Maybe use the wheels to get the groove started, then hopefully the carbide tool will be able to cut the bottom of the groove square so that the snap ring will fit?
