Re: Dielectric Grease
I reached retirement conditions 39 years ago, so Linda won't be worried about collecting from my death caused by my own stupidity. She has been living with my stupidity for 30 years now.
Besides, my homemade tools for working in high current places are smaller, easier to use and far cheaper. You should see the official "electrically safe" tools.

Forget Linda. What about Diane? I would miss her, though it might be a little like "missing" a toothache when it goes away. (With apologies to Diane. I'm sure she's really a good ole' gal. Never judge a book by its cover etc.)

Good luck on your project and don't listen to Diane's advice on using lube.

Re: Dielectric Grease
Duane, thank you for that excellent write up. I was taught by a crotchety old Austrian guy who had similar views to yours on the subject of dielectric grease. I recently redid the charging system on a couple of Suzuki GS 1000's which had notoriously temperamental charging systems. The time spent cleaning the connectors, grounds, soldering the new connectors and greasing them made a huge difference. One bike went from a 5v drop to .004v!
I used to think the brain was the most important part of the body. Then I realized who was telling me that.

When was Duane Austrian? That explains his background on economic theory!

Nah, my old Austrian guy's name was George and his preferred method of positive reinforcement was to apply whatever he was holding to the back of your head at high velocity. The worst was the loaded paintbrushes.
