It's called lowering. It can be done to most any machine.

but it's not easy on a 690 Enduro .

On the Shitzuki DR 650 the suspension can easily be lowered and you just buy the factory short sidestand.

When I was a Canada Safety Council instructor students that had an inch added to the soles of their boots had improved confidence and comfort. There is no reason to have to buy a lesser machine just because of ride height. You're not going to live forever. Might as well live now. :)

I just checked and I'm alive , think you mean buy the fastest machine cos it makes you more alive ? ;) So why do we ride airheads ?
The G650 looks fine to me, I'm kinda unimpressed with the pages and pages of how do i fix my KTM over on ADV. They go very hard buy need a lot more maintainence than I enjoy giving . The DR is easy enough to lower and is good bike, maybe better than the G, that needs examination... it sure looks better though.

Yea the KTM is a high performance machine. light as a feather. DR650 are plentiful. It's just a shame that only the KLR has decent range. I'm not a big fan of the KLR but the bike makes a lot of sense.

You might consider a carburrated Kawasaki KLR or Honda XL. Tried and true with lots of aftermarket stuff like seats etc. to make an old guy comfy. :P
I took a 2008 Cross Country for a ride today, I reckon it was the best bike of it's type I've ever ridden. Smooth , just enough vibration, good power and torque. The handling is quick, much quicker than my ST but sweet on the highway. I'm impressed ! All i have to do is find the dollars. I'm thinking seriously of finding a new home for my ST.

Dougie, I took a DR 650 for a run too. There is no comparison, the DR is positively agricultural, rough and the bleeding seat is a board !! ;) I don't know what Suzuki are thinking about, the DR seat is horrible !
