I was thinking of pulling a BOB ibex trailer behind my bicycle but would double as a scooter trailer. (Lets avoid the sidecar topic.. I lack the storage space or the sufficient argument skills needed to buy and store rig i would want for the bike) .
I am planning on carrying 50 lbs of photo equipment or my sail bags on the trailer back and forth. I also know i could be able to use the ferry near my home to commute saving me headaches of commuter traffic and even ride the local train to some jobs I get. I figured a rear shock would help over pot holes and broken urban sidewalks. Most of my jobs are within 3 miles of most major mass transportation when a commuting bike makes sense. A scooter would give me more range when I needed to go off the island or get to Oakland/east bay.
Talk me out of my hair brained scheme to keep gas reciepts low. Encourage me if I am the right track.

I always brake in corners and think how I am going to get home if I really mess up. When I get home, I wished that I hadn't used my brakes and should have ridden a bit further.

Can you get that thing onto a train?
Any big hills to pedal up? If you have the gears, I guess that is not so important. I have gears on the brain because I was looking up options for lower crank gears for my Fargo. A 36/22 should let me climb any hill in the coast range logging roads with a full load. It might even be easy.

I guess it really depends on what kind of terrain you're going to be riding on....

What a depressing photo MS! Especially with that dry hillside behind him.
RC, how light can you build that trailer ? Can you weld aluminium ?
