For my own personal tastes, the latest suggestion is the clear winner

Do you like sporty little "smokers" Major?Major Softie wrote:For my own personal tastes, the latest suggestion is the clear winner
I actually had one of those RD350LC's for about a year.
It had a bit of that "on/off" powerband thing going on, but it was simpler than the RZ350 with the fancy power valves.
It was reasonably light also. 350 lbs wet.
It has a nice "motorcycle" look to it as well.
Were the RD or RZ 350's available in the USA?
I've spent most of my money on women, motorcycles, and beer.
The rest of it I just wasted.

I don't remember when the last one was served up.

They left our market just about the same time they went water-cooled. There may have been a year or two of overlap there - I'm not sure. The 350 grew into a 400 for a while before they went away. The 250 didn't sell nearly as well here.
The early RD350's were probably the second most popular motorcycle in the U.S., second only to the Honda CB/CL350. Today the RD's are much harder to find than the CB's because so many of the RD's got hot-rodded into quasi-track bikes and ended up getting thrashed.
