This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

What about in the mountains inland from Coffs Harbour? Thats North of the banana line and is about 400km South of Brisbane so easy day run from Buzz et al.

I know nothing bout that country but looks like lots of National Parks n such.

(yes probably still teeming with Ticks n such. Youse can bring cane toads to deal with the critturs n she'llbe can run a workshop on how to lick 'em and not die.)

Sorry for the late reply, computer did some funny things during Mardi Grass, musta been something in the air. Anyhow, the no.1 son took care of the problem and I'm back on the air. Leeches are a fact of life here on the north coast. I don't have any cane toads at my elevation and I don't lick many things, especially cane toads. Ticks are a fact of life as well but that's the price we pay to live in paradise. Spring is a beautiful time of year for me, hope my BMW whisperer is able to perform his magic on my machine by then. I"m not familiar with the Coffs area but would be interested in finding out. There is a beautiful 300-350 kilometer ride from Nimbin, up into southeast Queensland and back that really is a treat to ride if you don't mind dodging potholes. I hope you'll stop by for a sandwich or something on the ride up Charlie.

Thanks She'llbe. It'll be good to catch up again. I hope your 'BMW whisperer' gets off his scrawny arse soon.

On venues, there is the Walcha to Wauchope Road (Oxley Highway, roughly between Tamworth and Port Macquarie). It's well known as one of those roads yer gotta ride before they put you in a box. Somewhere near that road would be good, and I'll do some more research to see if I can find a decent camping spot. This involves trolling through caravanning and 'grey nomad' forums. The spelling is awful, but there are often real gems when it comes to good free camping spots. Those old bastards know their shit.

I was thinking of going this way:-

I did some internet hunting the other day and came across a free campsite that sounded pretty good in the mountains inland from Coffs. Forgot the name already (d'oh) and was at work so will have to try and find it all over again. I guess the problem with the WWW is that if we can locate it so can everybody else so it may be popular on a long weekend.

Yes the Wauchope to Walcha run is great, or was twenty years back. They used to have a rally on that road, "Long Flat". I'd kind of like to make it further North but around Port Macq would make it more doable for the Mexicans.
