I went to the Alpine Rally at Yarrangobilly, just for the Saturday night. Pete, Ken, Jeff and Charlie were staying for the Sunday night. They would be waking up to this sort of thing
I had a great time. Very enjoyable to catch up again. Though I failed the test of how to sleep warm. Despite thermals, two sets of track pants, jumpers, hoodie, two sleeping mats, two sleeping bags, ginger beer and a bottle of red. -7C beat me.

Hmmm.... how good or bad are your sleeping bags Mal ? I'm ALWAYS catching myself out when I go somewhere really chill, I just can't really comprehend how cold it gets when I'm all warm and snug on the North Coast!

Never been cold at an Alpine yet.
GOOD sleeping bag No 1.
GOOD insulation from cold ground.
Thermal long johns, track pants, woolen socks, long sleeve t shirt, woolen jumper, woolen beanie.
Warm as toast.
Quite a few punters were cold.
Bloody great fun again. Sitting around the fire drinking, talking shit, etc, etc.
Excellent food. I sampled (and had my fill) no less than three hearty stews on sunday night.
Actually it was 2 hearty stews and a banger of a 1/2 leg of lamb roast.
No point fuckin' around at a bike rally.
Great to catch up Mal, you always turn up when you say you're coming!
Great to see you other lads too. Again.
Better scratch up some pics.
Cool bike!

That pic of the ghostly image left in the frost by Mal's bike is a cracker.
What a great weekend. We certainly couldn't complain about the weather, apart from Mal feeling cold at night, of course. Gotta get that sorted, Mal. More practice required, perhaps.
Here's my pick of the 'Best of Show - Patina Class', Claude's '51 Matchless.
Thanks all for the good company and fine bullshit.

Re: Back from the Alpine Rally
Yeah, a splendid w/end at this year's Alpine... much better'n the boring time had by this little black duck at the same time last year.
Great to catch up with y'all and enjoy the fantastic w/end of fine (though chilly) weather with even better company, food and drink, and some bloody excellent fireworks, etc etc...
I'll post a few more pics later - especially of the most common bike on site... airhead, of course .
But to kick off here's a a piece of well-used, left-field, moto-exotica - a bloody Ducati Darmah outfit, fuggen' crazy, man!... I think i've seen it at a past Alpine. Still brings a smile to the dial.
(I used to have a Darmah, from memory it handled pretty well - ie like a train on tracks. Never struck me that it would make a good outfit, but i guess it takes all types.)
Yeah, those 'hand guards' are oil bottle offcuts...

Well . . .
Those old Ducs ARE torque monsters, and I can see how valuable that could be with a hack.
Still, I'm horrified.
