leaking trans fluid

Post by michael »

1985 R80 is leaking transmission fluid from where the shift linkage enters the tranny. Any suggestions?

There's a small seal there. Look it up on one of the online parts fiches, order it and replace it. A 5 minute job

Yep, Ray has it. ..easy fix Michael. Lay the bike to the right, up against something...remove the bolt, fish out the seal, inspect the hole for pieces of seal if the seal is torn, replace seal, ensuring it's seated correctly.

And make sure it is even (not cocked), otherwise it could cause problems shifting.
