Good suggestion Tim but fibreglass dont bend too good. That's a spare S type seat I've had sitting in the shed for years.
btw I found one of them oscillating saws with a half circle blade is the business for slicing fibreglass.

How about a piece of small section plastic tubing sliced down one side. Sort of like auto body trim.
I will give it a go Rob but I'm no upholsterer. I made a mess just trying to wrap birthday presents the other day. How hard can it be to wrap a box with paper? Charlie on the other hand would do a nice job of wrapping presents I reckon. crisp lines, and waterproof stitching.
I'd rather think about how to make a rack. Steel tubing and brazing is the obvious choice but I don't have access to an oxy set. Aluminium tubing is pretty cheap, not sure how well it will take a bend and then there is joining it. And you know, I found out you can get carbon fibre tubing. Wouldn't that be something ..... but .... expensive!! A rack would cost more than my bike is worth.

I made mine from 1/2" mild steel round bar, it's cheap, easy to work and my ancient stick welder makes it all into one piece . It's heavier than tube but so much easier to work unless your gas bottles are full and mine aren't .

Tidy design there thanks Charlie. I like the the shape and can mimic that - yes solid bar sibbo if I can't make it from something lighter.
With the krausers the rack has to be mounted surprisingly high - so tents and such can sit over the panniers.
That leaves wasted space underneath .... could be used for something. Thinking a hinged arrangement might work.
I have assignments to get out of the way then I can spend some time in the shed sorting this.
Mal ,this page gives all the standard Reynolds tubing sizes. Nice, strong light and expensive but how do you bend the stuff to nice neat curves ? http://www.mrrecumbenttrikes.com/parts.html
