I used to have an easy time deploying my sidestand on my '79 R65.
Small foot with a tang for deployment.
I would catch the tang with some part of my boot, push it to the ground, and then roll the bike backward until the stand quit moving forward. Then lean the full weight on the stand.
Most of the time, though, I deploy it just as I do the centerstand. Grab the front brake and dismount. Then deploy whichever stand is appropriate.
30" inseam.

A whole LOT of discussion about an inadequate device that is only used when the bike is parked.

My side stand is perfectly adequate, given an adequate situation to use it.
There are times when neither stand is useful, and an alternative is required

So what you're saying is when you can't use your kickstand you use quicksand, right?ME 109 wrote:My side stand is perfectly adequate, given an adequate situation to use it.

This is a 4-day work week for me! And temps in the 80's all weekend! Swing-arm gets back on tomorrow, hopefully with a test ride, then more riding on Saturday here in the city.
Who knows? On Sunday I may take to the countryside!
