So what did the new ones cost, Jeff?
Two new retaining nuts were 30 bucks. That will allow me to fix the old ones and sell 'em.
I'm just working on the add speel at the moment. Not sure if it can be put into words tho........

Before riding anywhere, I can tell the new springs have more spring. Understandably.Zombie Master wrote: You must post a review of how the bike feels with new dampers!
Maybe in the order of 25-30%
Got some wild country coming up this weekend so it will be a good test.
Nice bit of thread degradation back there too, Chuey.

ME, did you try putting the spring back on the shock over that tool to press it into the holes as you tried to turn it? I just wonder if that might have helped.
I haven't done that job yet on mine. I just bought new shocks but I still want to rebuild my Konis to put on my Triumph.
If I would quit riding my friends' modern motorcycles I wouldn't care about my shocks.

Ed, pressing the tool into the holes by some means is the way to do it. Doing it with the shock spring would be difficult I think.
More of a press type situation would be better, and a better, stronger tool with more leverage.
My nuts were insanely tight. I should have gone straight to option 10, or had a proper tool setup as we are discussing.
(that should bring 'em out of the woodwork)

I was trying to relate that to getting caught in the springs...it all began to sound like a mammogram.

To be obscure, I've heard of 'em playing on the spokes before, but not shocker springs.

I've had my Koni's off the bike for a few months now, just waiting for when I decide to replenish them with seals and new oil.
After reading Jeff's adventure, I'm putting them back on the bike until they really sh!t themselves.

I can't tell the difference between the new ones and the old ones.
