I had a wee lowside.

This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

I had a wee lowside.

Post by Garnet »

Well, playing silly bugger has finally caught up with me.

I was out playing on one of my favorite local back roads yesterday and lost my place. I ended going around a very tight blind right hander, forgetting that it drops away sharply at the apex. I believe a may have got some air, or at least the suspension was completly unloaded when I realized that I would need the whole road for my line. And there was this big Buick right where I was going. I'm not sure if I was on the brakes, but down I went, very heavily. Fortunatly the car was able to stop as I slid across in front of it.

My First Gear Kilimanjaro jacket and Tourmaster pants did their jobs and I kept all my shin. I didn't break anything but sure as hell am sore. I was able to ride the bike home after the ambulance and police left. The police where very kind and did not give me a ticket for being stupid.

Crimney Garnet, glad it wasn't any worse than it was. Take some Ibuprofen and plenty of hot showers for the soreness. Maybe over all, think....chicks dig bikes with battle damage.

Ouch! Minor 'off' or not, it still always hurts. I'm glad the Buick stopped in time.
Garnet, I hope your body and dignity both heal quickly.

Some positives:
You are still alive.
It could have been much worse.
At least it wasn't an old airhead. (Sorry)

I guess it was a good think you were wearing your jacket on your shin. :D

Way to ATGATT. It makes all the difference. You'll have to do some repairs on the bike, but on the gear it's just battle scars to be proud of (and to remind you how smart you were to wearing that gear when being stupid).

Glad you're alright and, as above, especially glad you avoided the Buick.

X2. Hope you're not too stiff in the morning.

What if you'd been on Rob's fire-breathing 250?
Call me Mel. Some years ago- never mind how long precisely- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me at home, I thought I would ride about a little and see the other parts of the world.

Congratulations on surviving !!!

BUICK !! I'm so glad they stopped , the slide often hurts but at least you slow down gradually .

Summer is coming here and it gets bloody hot so thanks for tempering the temptation to forget ATGATT.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

The family in the Buick where very kind and helpful, alas they left before I got their names, as they deserve a bottle of very nice wine.

The jacket and pants are much worse than they look in the pics and my wife say's "they've done their job and it's time for them to retire and make way for new gear."

I got a quote on some of the plastic for the bike, and it came in less than what a new jacket is going to cost. So yes it was better it than an airhead.

Again thanks guys, it's time now to try some of the new drugs the Doc gave me. :geek:

Garnet, sorry to hear of your pain. Glad you are telling us about it.

I'll give Charlie a whistle and see if we can come over and check out what the doctor gave you.
