I don't think I've ever posted in this section of Boxerworks before. Well, this must be the place.
Hey, how does one clean the inside of one's helmet? I wear at least five different helmets depending on the season and what kind of bike I'm riding. All have removable liners. Sometimes I just pressure wash the inside and outside. Some I remove and machine wash. But it does not take long before they smell just like they did before! I just use regular laundry soap and I do not think it does the job. Any tips or hints. Other than my head stinks.

Re: Cleaning Inside of Helmet
I always use a helmet liner, that way I just take the liner in the shower with me and wash it.
I really like this one:

It not only keeps my helmet clean, but is designed to hold water for hot weather riding.

Pull liner and wash in sink (small items like that don't get much agitator action in a washing machine. Also wash inside of helmet, scrubbing the soft parts well, but making sure to hit every little spot. Rinse it all out completely in the sink.
I use one of the "sanitizing" dish soaps, and it kills everything well enough to keep mine from being stinky. If that is not enough for yours, add borax or sodium bicarbonate.

I soak my helmet in anti dandruff medicated shampoo. The medicated stuff is essentially anti fungal. I leave it soak for half an hour or so. Use a reasonable amount, suds it up, rub it all over the place. Rinse it well. Repeat.
Then I leave it to drip dry outside. Do this on a day too hot for riding. Otherwise, a floor heating duct does the job too.

I use a double dose of sheep dip and then chuck it in the washing machine.
Working on the drying side of things tho, it's an awful racket in the tumble dryer.
Gotta do it when the wife's not home.
Bit like painting valve covers.

That works with a full-face. I find my 1/2 helmet gets jammed in the dryer.ME 109 wrote:I use a double dose of sheep dip and then chuck it in the washing machine.
