Where are we riding to next?
Re: Where are we riding to next?
SteveC can't make it. I am checking work commitments and leave balance. Might only get the Monday off.

Good luck with that, Mal.Mal S7 wrote:SteveC can't make it. I am checking work commitments and leave balance. Might only get the Monday off.
Remember to mention the health, productivity and morale benefits to the company.
I can arrange your Ikon purchase if you like.

Thanks for the offer Charlie but I will probably agonise a while yet. I just got a quote from Ikon for the 7610 and the 7614 which is the same but a $100+ more and has an alloy body and is gas charged, when what I really want is the Ohlins BM141 (S36P) without the piggy-back and I find today you can get that [BM203E (S36E)] from France on ebay but costs over $1200! Desire and choice are the worst things for a shoulda-been-a-buddhist like me .... I get like rain man. Why can't the world be like Aldi, only one type of baked beans?Airbear wrote: Good luck with that, Mal.

Just spoke to Jeff about possible destinations. He mentioned Talbingo, I will have to look up where that is. I need to work out if I get the Friday or the Monday off, may have to spend the Friday with IT consultants from Perth, and not pretty ones either
I can think of places I would rather be.
Re: Where are we riding to next?
Suspension is hugely overrated Mal.
Reckon a new set of Ikons will do all you need. Two up, and loaded to the gunnels.
Better do a bit o' recon (on th' puter) for campsites..

Dem numbers is frightening . My ST needs a rear shocker at some stage although I'm happily ignoring the gentle weeping at the moment. What does a rebuild cost at an average ? My expectations are in line with my bank balance .Mal S7 wrote:Thanks for the offer Charlie but I will probably agonise a while yet. Depends on what it is, Peter. The seal kit for two Ikon shocks is about $45. However, I was quoted $100-120 dollars each to get the job done by Ikon in Albury, "provided nothing goes wrong". The rebuild was difficult, but only because the gland nuts had originally been way over-tightened by The Hulk on a bad hair day.Sibbo wrote:

Ah now Mal, Talbingo is the place where we all went to meet you when you proposed a Spring gathering in 2010, and you totally failed to turn up. You had the flu, and it was understandable, of course. We camped at the Jounama Creek campsite, just a couple of kms east of Talbingo township. A pretty good spot, but you won't be getting rid of your chicken strips getting there from Dubbo.Mal S7 wrote: Just spoke to Jeff about possible destinations. It's an unidentifiable one Charlie, I've drawn it to the attention of lots of otherwise knowledgeable fellows, including a photo quiz on ADV and no one know it's name . I guess I'll just have to pull it and send it away and see if the "professionals" can recognise it.Airbear wrote:Depends on what it is, Peter. The seal kit for two Ikon shocks is about $45. If it can't be recognised it does seem possible a full replacement might be on the cards.

Or you could try pulling it apart and seeing what it needs. The leaky seals in mine were very ordinary looking ones, and it's likely yours would not be much different.Sibbo wrote:

Is the road to Geehi repaired and open yet?
