I'm sure it's great fun to ride, but it didn't interest me at all. A Beemer with no luggage racks is like a Jeep you can't take off-road: it just doesn't make any sense.

A Beemer with no available luggage racks would make no sense. Have you read there are no touring accessories?

I don't mind it.

However, it's usefulness is mostly as a short distance ride, commuting, day rides, coffee strip parking etc where camping and travelling aren't important. It's a big bike for that sort of life.

To me it represents yet another example of BMW putting a bunch of leftover parts together at the end of a model run. The Wasser Boxer is about to take over and a special limited edition with a badge is their mo for clearly some stock.

If I was in the market for a Ducati Monster or a MG Griso, then it'd be in the mix. The Griso would probably do me though. Pie in the sky stuff really 'cause none of that is going to happen.

13 to 14 K is probably more like it. Actually more than that I bet. BMW = Bring More Wallet.

Don't need no tools either - those camhead engines don't need much maintenance. You should see the pathetic toolkit that came with my R1200GS. And true gentlemen don't get their hands dirty changing oil ya know.

Beemers have not had "available" luggage racks for years. They are integral to the design of the bike and completely unnoticeable when the luggage comes off. That is part of the superiority of the BMW luggage system. If I have to bolt some ugly rack on the bike, I might as well put Givi's on a Duc.

I've looked through the "customization" and "accessories" sections, and there are no panniers. There is an available soft tail pack and tank bag. Nothing that offers any security. Nothing that can carry anything heavier than a 6-pack. Nothing big enough for a laptop. Nothing that will hold a helmet. Personally, I consider a bike designed for riding around the "urban jungle" to need lockable storage way more than a touring bike.
