r100rt 1981 bing carb jet

Post by tonycrocker2309 »

Hi all, hopefully someone can help me.... IM currently recommisioning an 81 R100rt. I removed the float bowls and proceeded to remove the jets, I have remeoved the jet located in the float bowl ( Fuel enricher jet?) and proceeded to put it somwhere safe...too safe a place as it seems- does anyone know where I can a replacement jet? I cannot find it listed on the parts fiche....it appears to show nothing in the float bowl area... Please help as I want to get a ride in before the snow.. Thank you in advance.

Welcome Tony.
Try motobins.co.uk or BING direct.
I can't see them on Motobins. Maybe they come installed with the bowl?

I didn't realize it could be removed. The Bing book doesn't even show it on the diagrams...again, suggesting that it's not something that should come out. Obviously it needs to be cleaned, though.

It comes out and Bing sells them. They are not listed in the Bing manual either. A phone call will get one on the way.

Thank you all for your helpful comments... I have just cured my own problem but another mistake on my behalf.. its seems only the L/H carb has this jet which is removable and the R/H carb has a pressed in predrilled jet.. it had been so long since I stripped them that until I looked closely I realised this.. THank you all again- now I have had it running can anyone give me advice on the correct oil grade and quantity?

Oil: 2+ quarts; ideally an SG-rated 20W-50 oil of your favorite kind. I've "gotten away" with SL-rated Valvoline 20W-50 Maxlife auto oil for quite awhile with no apparent ill effects.

C'mon guys (and the occasional gal). You can't let khittner get away with recommending oils that aren't actually the best ones to use, can you?

Subtle, yet rabble rousing. I like it!
