I think $9K is too much, so agree with MS there, but it's not an unusual asking price in this neck o' the woods. The question is "how much to offer"?

Books, Long rego, panniers , full service history

How long has it been available for sale? Full service history is VERY good. I would look at it all very closely, especially any recommendations on them.

How long will the tyres last? How long is the rego?
...or other words, what money will need spending within 6 months?

I am also interested in a K1100RS. This from a person who hates 4s.

Currently own a 2007 R1200S, and my last daily rider was a K1 –
I will offer this comparison and two thumbs up to the Hex:
Vastly more nimble, agile and much lighter weight vs the K.
A pronounced difference – especially around town and in traffic !
When I first bought the R12S it felt like being on a dirt bike vs the K !
The R12S has been a joy to ride anywhere anytime.

I`ve got a silver RS a 2000 model. It`s the fourth one i`ve had. I just love the bike. I think it`s one of the most beautiful mototrcycles I`ve owned. At 65 I fear she`s getting a little too heavy for me. My 5ft 8in height doesn`t help either. At any rate ,it`s smooth as fast as I need, handles great through the mountain roads here ,the brakes are superb also.

I have done the maths and I have decided I can not afford a bank loan for another bike at present. Maybe in a years time....

I know this is an older thread but hey, it's the oilhead forum.

The R1100RS is a true Jack of All Trades.... and the Master of None.

Pros....
* Foot pegs are under you so off road it's "almost" like a GS with street tires.
* Stripped down it's a nimble 90+ hp sport bike.
* Great commuter with city lids.
* Decent touring bike with full luggage on and a big shield.
* 700+ watt alternator with enough juice to power anything you want.
* GVW supports 500 pounds of carrying capacity (check around and you'll find that's quite high).
* ABS (might be a plus or minus, but it's not linked like an 1150).
* Modify the tank and it holds 7 gallons of fuel.
* Modern tire sizes.

Ergos,
* The seat can be moved up or down.
* Bars are rubber mounted and can be tilted in or out.
* Bar-backs can move the bars up and back with many adjustments.
* Shield can be raised or lowered.

All in all it's a fun..... tool. I have no feelings for this bike but LOVE what it enables
me to do. Easy enough to work on if you're into that type of thing. Spin on oil filter
that I get at autozone. That's where I get all my routine maintaince parts btw.

The main problem with this bike (given that it's in good working order) is you are
just a notch above a naked bike. More so than an airhead RS. You will be exposed
to the elements which is okay for a few hundred miles but it wears on you after a
while. Also the rear frame is prone to cracking.

Personally, with the type of riding I want to do, I'm looking for a flood damaged RT
or one with a bad motor or trans to swap my parts over to.
