Any vac. shop probably has some "junk" wands lying about. Sometimes I get them free, last time I paid $2 each for 4.
the latches are broken, or they are dented where they fit together. Neither of these faults affect then for what we need to do.
I happen to know Electrolux pipes are EXACTLY the right size. They were made in Italy. METRIC.

Rob, check out http://www.eubmw.com for carb rebuild kits. Cheapest price I have found on the web, and free shipping too!

What are the part numbers on your carbs, ROB. There is a shop here that sells parts for old Brit cars and he might have a pile of Stromberg diaphragms...
I think they are 32mm, but it's been a while since I worked on an R65...and since you got a replacement engine...??

64/32/204 & 203

I don't know if there were any changes made to the carbs when they introduced the '81 Nikasil engine with the larger [intake only?] valved heads. If there was, I might need to consider changing needle position, too.

Well, checking RealOEM, I see that they did, indeed, change carbs.
For '81-'84 they were 64/32/335 & 336

For the mono-shock R65's they were 64/32/361 & 362.

Does anyone know what, exactly the suffix means?

edit: I did find this site: http://www.bingpower.com/english/servic ... etter.html , but it doesn't show my 203/204 carbs!

Rob, do you have the Bing manual? I wouldn't worry too much about the specific carb model numbers, but try to make sure you have all the correct jets and needle settings for that motor. I don't have my book with me or I would post them, let me know if you need them. When I discovered that one of my original carbs was defective I bought a pair from e-bay from an LS. It came with different jets than my original carb, but I just put the jets from my old carb in it and it works great.

No Ed, I don't have the manual. I suspect I may need different jets for the larger valves.
