If so what's the life story and a little history bout the machine

Gidday back, grant81rs,
I already owned the 76 in 1993 when I bought the K1100LT new in Austin. Its got 115,000 miles, about, and I've ridden it across the U.S. a couple of times, to the Northwest U.S. several times and to Fairbanks, Alaska. It now sports a Corbin seat, custom wound front fork springs and Ohlins Gold shock on the rear. I've removed the ABS, the fairing has been repainted once, it has the original windscreen, the radio works but I've replaced the OEM speakers with marine speakers (rust proof). Had to replace the front rotor floating fasteners and have been through two front brake master cylinders. Rebuilt the rear master cylinder, replaced brake pads, rebuild front brake cylinders, to name a few items. Here is a pic: http://tackingintothewind.blogspot.com/ ... _1365.html

At 900 pounds it outweighs the R90 by 300, and, really, at my age, is too heavy for me. I wish I had a K1600 but won't pay the price. Its been a year since I rode the K to Colorado and Wyoming and I'm itching to go somewhere West and North, but I'm thinking I'll ride the R this time.

All, sorry to get off topic. Grant, I'm checking out your blog. Never made it to Australia, the closest, I guess, was Vietnam, 1966.

Thanks again to those above. Fixing the caliper was fairly easy; fixing an obvious problem with the dealer, not so much.

That K is too heavy for you, but you want a K1600? There seems to be a bit of a disconnect between those two sentences.

Its because the K1600 weighs 767 pounds.
