Sorry Charlie,
I was emailing with Mal in Dubbo. I'm going to meet up with Mal and Steve in Dubbo and ride with them down to the site. Just bought a new tent and a warmer sleeping bag. Have a thin and thick pair of thermals. Jeff promises me that we can get the temps up to Darwin standards with firewood. Looking forward to riding the New England Highway, I can stretch the "S"'s legs.

Excellent plan She'llbe. We'll do our best to provide a bit of southern hospitality, at least in terms of keeping your blood temperature at the appropriate level. We know how to do fires here. Got a chair?
ps: I've got a bunch of green shortbread cookies in the freezer, but I suspect they won't last till September, at the current rate of consumption.

I got one shortbread left......for thursday am departure to the off centre rally.
It's been pissing rain everywhere so the dirt road from Bourke should be a lotta fun!
Bike is all loaded 'ceptin for some more food.
The dirt road from Wanaaring to Wilcannia should be even more fun!
Might yet have to strap a 10 litre fuel can on the back.

Charlie, always eat your veggies. Jeff, you need a bigger tank. I saw a Heinrich on ebay a couple of months ago. Only $2400 for 8.5 gallons!I have a hippy beach chair, can't afford a Kermit.

Flash photography can be so.........unflattering.
It's Wednesday night, I'm leaving in the morning at 6:45 to meet up with Jim, Mick and Brian at Howlong. Then on to Finley and meet up with Ken.
Then it's northward bound. We hope to get between Cobar and Bourke tomorrow night.
(note to self, don't forget steak in freezer for tomorrow night's tea)
I rang Wanaaring store this arvo to check on fuel. All good, he has 3,000 litres.
The road from Bourke to Wanaaring is open but care will be needed. 180 k of care.....
I've tried to trim the load a little, so the RS only weighs 15 tons now.
I have tent, good mattress, army woolen blanket, full size pillow!, tarp, comfy chair, whiskey, wine, camp light, 3 litres water, plenty food, oatmeal, dried fruit, nuts, tinned food, etc.
Tomorrows forecast: fuckin wet, wild and windy. Excellent! I'm gonna look like the Michelin man.
I think OCR actually stands for 'Oh Crap it's Raining?
I don't care, I got 5 days in the saddle and looking forward to passing a few GS's on the Dirt!

Nice and compact Jeff.
I gotta get me a decent bag to put the tent/mattress etc in, so it's all one snug lot on the seat.
Andy Strapz has some stuff, but I might try good ol' Aussie Disposal first, then maybe Anaconda to check options.
I'm looking for a seat too.
Have a great ride. I do hope the mud isn't too nasty. Watch out for the black sticky mud...

Re: Oz Boxerworks Rally, September 2010
Well I've finally worked out how to get into this thing!
I'm trying to get my act together to get to Jounama.....
Looks like I better get me down to Aldi and find a tent!... If this rain keeps up, might need a boat to go on top.
Charlie, I hope Brunnhilde is going to be allright... seeing her innards spread all over the pictures page was a little disconcerting... some new bits will surely give her a whole new life ... just hold back on the facelift though... she is entitled to wear her age with dignity!..
I seem to have got my battery problems sorted .. just need to get some bags, a tent, maybe some dunny roll and I'm ready for adventure!!!!!

Jeff, have a great run. Best of luck with the weather and mud. The Back of Bourke forecast looks at least slightly promising for the next few days. Enjoy the shortbread.
Doug, glad you made it. Yes, I can tell Brun is excited about the money being spent, and I can assure you that there will always be more patina than bling, regardless of what I try to do re prettying her up.

Oz Boxerworks Rally - Just 4 WEEKS TO GO!!
Don't have nothing exciting to say except I just checked the calendar and the rally is only 4 weeks away!!
If you compared that on a timeline with the age of the planet then, we would have less than a nano-second to get down to Aldis and pack the bikes!!
Luckily my bike still has dirt on it from the last run... and the panniers and the tank bag .....
cheers
Mal
ps gday to Doug and to Sibbo
