This is for the discussion of Motorcycling. The art, the science, the theory of all things related to our favorite sport... riding motorcycles.

Has the Barry Way opened again Charlie?

I'll have a couple of weekends where I can't make it. One will be the Nov 22 as youngster is going abroad. I hope to sort the Dinner Plain w/e for the week before or after (15th or 29th) but it's dependant on others availability too. I'll try and tie that crowd down in the next week or so.

Ah, didn't think of that - thanks for the thought, Steve. Just did some googling, and the Barry Way will be closed for extensive roadworks till 8 September. Bastards. I'm sure I could sneak through, around their machines ...

That's ok, plenty of other options.

The wattle is in bloom and birds are challenging each other over territory. I went for my first post-solstice ride yesterday and enjoyed it immensely. The bike started straight up, not bad for 3 months of just sitting. A bit o tappet rattle that I will get to one day.

Met a local on a very sharp looking R90S, he said it was a barn find, a gift from a mate, cost him nothing at all but ten grand to bring it back to life.

Then I went and explored a country lane, yellow canola fields and fat cattle. Arrived home chilled, glorious sunny day but not so warm at cruising speed.

Can't wait for a run! Somewhere with mountains. It will be November or December for me.

cheers

I did my local 100 km night run last week to see the movie Lucy, good fun and recommended . Those LED spots I have fitted are just great , home happy if chill.

Steve, at least that falls within the socially accepted notion of the season of the year we call Spring, and that's fine with me.

So, where to?

That looks promising. Are there any river crossings on the road?
If it was a slush of clay for 15kms made worse by 4x4's then I'd be reticent with a load.

13 miles from Bennies, which is at the bottom of Mt. Cobbler. No river crossings.
Haven't been up there for years, but I'm pretty sure the road has been improved. No doubt a bush track, but passable on and airhead.
Bennies is about 30 minutes from Cheshunt.

Nice lake and camping at the top, but the hut is not as hospitable as others we've been to.
