That's often the biggest difference between an accomplished amateur and a pro: huge difference in time. Nevertheless, the accomplished amateur can do spectacular work - they just can't make a reasonable living at it charging by the hour.

Yes, I was applying that judgement of spectacular amateur work to your painting, so it was meant as a compliment.

Perhaps ironically, I think the fact that an amateur doing such work has to put so many more hours into the project leaves them with a much stronger emotional investment in the project: it's as much about process as product, if not more.

Jeff in WC - That is exactly what ive been thinking of doing.
The tyres were left on the rims for the whole time but were laying down flat with no weight on them, so I dont anticipate flat spot issues but I did also recognize the hard rubber / low grip thoughts.

Agreed Major, the process has been one of emotional investment, as is my history with the product Betsy.
In preparation to painting the smoke I must have refined, repeated & finished the process a thousand times in my head...

You would not think the same person did both... the car looks shocking and just screams 'im king of the shitheap'... not that it was visually pleasing to start with. hehehe

It doesnt, believe me, it doesnt!
lols... its more a case of; it was a nice day, I was needing to get outside and move a bit, I could only find white house paint, it was a little breezy, I needed to try my new spray gun & I needed some thing to practice on that resembled the actual curved surfaces of a fairing & tank.

It worked

Im sure at some point in time in the near future, i'll grab some dark coloured house paint when I see it on special @ Bunnings
