Re: Geezerhood Approaches-Lowr Pegs/Raise Bars RS
Funny story. The reason I got the bike 9 months old in 1978 is the geezer who bought it new didn't like the low bars, had them change the bars, still didn't like it and traded it for an RT or something. 36 years later, here we go again.

The bar to geezerdom has moved---you're not a geezer until you want/need a Can-Am or some other trike.

Well, don't conflate geezerdom with lemminghood.Major Softie wrote:Or a Harley.khittner1 wrote:

There are bar risers and bar back combinations that you could certainly try using the standard RS flat bars.
I swapped mine out with the K75 S bars on my 82 RS and it made a significant improvement to an aching pain between the shoulder blades on long rides...so good, in fact, that I never had the pain again on that RS....so try a set of k75 S bars is one possibility.
Raising the seat or adding extra cushion may alleviate knee pain issue. Don't think you can really adjust the 77 foot peg/shifter any lower without fouling on the muffler/exhaust.
I sold the 82 RS a few years ago....them got an 83 ...with the standard Flat RS bars....pain back...tried 25 and 35 mm bar risers...little relief but not enough. Couldn't find and K75S bars nor bar backs so....sold the bike.
Bought a 89 K75S ...with the the standard K75s bars and fellow had brand new Corbin seat which gave perfect ergonomics....unfortunately I've only sat on the new acquisition as had hip and leg surgery recently which
sidelines me until next year. But I did sit on it and its feels great. I'm still missing my airheads...they had lot more "soul" than these K sewing machines but at my stage in life just being on a bike is OK by me
