EuroMotoElectrics is a great resource also. Changing wires is a good idea, especially if they are 20 years old or so...

Part #4 there, is the one OEM part I could not do without.
You strip a short length of the wire, and put a nice, clean solder joint with the wire sticking through the hole on the end, and laid over to one side. Remove and reuse with new wire.
