According to stinkypedia it was 1966, but Villiers was already owned by Manganese Bronze at that time. I think that happened in the late 50s, sometime around the demise of James and Francis Barnett.

Greeves were a great dirt bike. I used to desert race a 1968 360 Challenger in the sixies. They were using their own engine then, 2 stroke, dual exhaust port with the loudest exhaust system even made, ran under the frame so you really had to keep your skid shield on them. Really comfortable over the rough stuff, still have the frame and front end under the porch of my place, used the big aluminum I beam, serial number 36MX4-B333. Had visions of fitting a BSA single in there, never happened. Mine had the big flange in front of the tank, which was fiberglass, back section fit under end of seat, front held on with an elastic over the flange.
