Nearly Tim, I'm a sentry on the lookout for invaders who've come to steal our eucalyptus oil.
Wait till Martha Gardener hears about this. They won't pull the wool over her eyes!

Update:
A convoy of trucks carrying armed koalas has just been seen heading in a northerly direction.
This'll be interesting.

They'd be from the notorious Dropbear Regiment.

Oops Try again!
Further Disassembly
Gearbox and Clutch Splines Dry but OK
Rear Wheel Dive Splines look OK
FD Splines don't look so good . 35% to 40% worn. Is this OK ? Bad ? Replace? Leave alone?
Second Hand FD? (33/11) 30 years of wear even though greased. Expensive!
The shiny paralelelogram at the back left of each narrow tooth shows
the original size.

It'll still work fine for a while yet. In the meantime, keep a look out for a replacement.
Ones with similar wear typically ask around $300. Better ones more. They might have other issues inside too.
Occasionally a brand new one pops up for sale...$1200.
Don't discount the drum brake versions either, as it's just a matter of removing the arm and plugging the hole.

Thanks for those comments/info Steve.
Parts for FD spline/bearings/seals/shims including pinion bearings/seals
MotoBins about $A400. There's also a local Gear and Spline man.
I do think that he can repair splines . Don't know the amount of further
disassembly required or costs. Total pull down required I would think.
Might need to give him a phone call.
Plenty of time as it won't be going back together in a hurry.

The spline is repairable, as Airbear and I have had one repaired. Airbears is in use, and mine is on standby! if a local bloke can do it for you, even better.
Take care with the shims, noting where they go and ensuring they don't get bent, and when replacing the seal around the spline when reinstalling. Other than that, it's easy enough.
