refitting an r100rs fairing

Post by antocas »

can somebody please check their lower fairing brackets, which join the split lower fairing to the engine mount,,are they different sizes,,
I'm getting towards the completion of my r100rs rejuvenation,,now to get the crashbars and lower panels to fit nice, but the brackets are confounding me,and a bit of knowledge is wanted here
will post pics of my completed bike soon
thanks

The fiche shows different part numbers for left & right. They should be the same length so one might suspect a bent main fairing mount or some other sort of misalignment. I am assuming you don't have the two lower fairing brackets reversed.

Make sure the main fairing bracket is centered on the steering tube. There is a lot of adjustment between all the parts. When I reinstalled my RT fairing I left many of the connections loose as I put it together. That allowed me to move things into position as I installed.

It's difficult to get an accurate measure of each bracket while they are fitted to the bike but, the stick out part of the bracket that has the two holes, goes to the front.
