75 R60 seat lock
75 R60 seat lock
Hello and thanks for the add. Looking for a seat lock for my 75 R60/6. Nothing on EBay currently. Also will be looking for a good source for engine parts. I’m going to bump her up to a 750 this summer. Who’s the go to place for parts? Thanks all!!!!

Well now, I suppose that would have been helpful now wouldn’t it? Sorry, my bad, I’m in New Jersey near Atlantic City.

I've made a few purchasers from Bob's BMW in Maryland. I've had great service there.
I'd be careful to avoid aftermarket parts unless there is no choice.

No problem. It may be a good idea to put your general area in the header for the forum for future reference...
As you can see from my location details (hint ), we are seperated by quite a distance, a lot of water and last but not least an international boundary which would make sending parts expensive and inconvenient. That being said, I do have the parts (in 'used' condition) if the worst came to the worst.
Are you after just the lock or the whole 'latch'.
You might find the following information useful:
- The same seat lock and latch mechanism was used by BMW on all road bikes with the exception of the 'R/Mystic' series from the /5 in 1969 to the last 'RT in 1995.
- The lock itself is also use on the K1/K100RS series and is identical to that used on the airhead 'RT' machines to secure the glove box lids in the fairing.
- As supplied, the lock was keyed to match the ignition. The chances of getting a replacement lock (new or used) to match your ignition key are slight to say the least. Make sure you get a key (or a key code) to match the lock.

Understood Rob, and thanks for the listing. I've tried to modify my user profile to include where I am, but it's not posting. Obviously the issue is on my end, I'll sort it out eventually!Rob Frankham wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 5:08 amNo problem. As to the lock, I need everything. There is an empty hole in the frame where it should go. I've tried to upload a photo, but the forum says the file is too large. I took it with my iPhone and can't seem to alter it. I'll work on that as well.
Thanks for the assistance!

Re: 75 R60 seat lock
You may want to look at the fiche for the individual parts.
It's under "51_2581 - MOUNTING PARTS F SET OF LOCKS" in Vehicle Trim
https://shop.maxbmw.com/fiche/DiagramsM ... d=09082020
Most seem to be available on Ebay.
Search on "R100 Seat Lock" and you should find some of the parts.
As far as the lock is concerned, the can be re-keyed to match your ignition.
You may want to bring it to a locksmith, since you'll need replacement pins. I'm assuming you don't have any.
