1989 R100rt Mono fuse location

Post by Spencersomewhere »

Hi, I was looking for the fuse block in the headlight like the 1982 RT I had but can't find it. The headlight bucket is empty. I have found the small 2 fuse holder at the back of the gas tank but I was looking for the one with all the other circuits.

Thank you!

Yep...and the tank was redesigned to allow it to fit over all those bits.

The manual for my 88 R100 RT indicates only two fuses on the bike, so you've located them both. As ME 109 and SteveD indicated, there are some relays under the tank on the right side.

With the advent of the Mono bikes, all of the electrics (except connections to the headlamp), were removed from the headlamp shell as you have found.

Up till Model year 1991, there are only two fuses located as you have found in a small box at the rear of the fuel tank.

From 1991, there is an additional pair of fuses so the fuse box, in a similar location I think, houses four. There my knowledge runs out. I do not own and I have been unable to source a wiring diagram for the late monos, so I don't actually know what circuits the two extra fuses protect. On the 'R' series, they seem to be associated with self cancelling indicators.

It's interesting to not that no airheads have fuses in the ignition system or in the charge circuit... 1960s design work...
